Pastoral Care to the Sick and Homebound

“Is any among you sick? Let him call for the presbyters of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” (Jas 5:14-15)

The Pastoral Care for the Sick and Elderly Ministry is made up of volunteers who have a special interest in attending to the spiritual needs of the sick and elderly visit the sick and elderly once a week in their homes and/or facilities joyfully celebrate the Holy Communion Rite with them

The purpose of this ministry is to serve the sick and elderly who are prevented from celebrating the Eucharist with the rest of the community. Our volunteers bring the Word of God and the Eucharist to them in the form of a Communion Service. In receiving the Body of Christ the sick are united sacramentally to the Lord and are reunited with the Eucharistic community. Wherever possible the Communion Service is celebrated in a group setting and individually for those unable to join us. Each patient receives a copy of the Church Bulletin and religious articles. Pastoral Care volunteers may also lead them in prayer by reciting the Chaplet of Mercy and/or the rosary.
